Getting there is half the fun? When I was young all our vacations were car camping excusions. We couldn't afford airline tickets or hotels, so we explored the western U.S. in our car. There were many good times when we finally stopped, but the actual traveling was long and boring. My main escape was in playing with the optical illusions, of power lines that seem to swoop up and down, and of mirages covering the long straightaways with shimmering water. |
